There is "food" that man has made and there is food that our Creator has made. Our Creator knows what is good for our nourishment and health, and He tells us in Scripture which foods those are. Unsurprisingly, modern science has confirmed that the food our Creator made for us is healthy and good for us.
Let's take a look!

Fruits in Scripture: Pomegranates, Figs, and More
“A land of wheat and barley, vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey." — Deuteronomy 8:8
Fruits are Yah’s natural sweets—rich in antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins that support heart health and digestion. Pomegranates are known for polyphenols that reduce inflammation and support healthy blood vessels; figs offer natural prebiotics that feed beneficial gut bacteria.
Herbs in Scripture
“And Elohim said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed... to you it shall be for food.” — Genesis 1:29
Herbs such as mint, hyssop, and coriander were used for flavor, fragrance, and healing. Many herbs contain powerful phytonutrients—antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory compounds that support the body’s natural defense systems.
Nuts in Scripture
“Carry down to the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds.” — Genesis 43:11
Nuts are nutrient-dense gifts filled with healthy fats, protein, and minerals like magnesium and selenium. Almonds, in particular, help balance blood sugar and cholesterol while providing sustained energy.
Oil in Scripture
“He shall give you rain for your land in its season, and you shall gather in your grain, your wine, and your oil.” — Deuteronomy 11:14
Olive oil is one of the most celebrated foods in Scripture—used for anointing, lighting lamps, and nourishing the body. It is rich in monounsaturated fats and antioxidants that lower inflammation and protect the heart and blood vessels. Choosing pure, cold-pressed oil honors Yah’s design for foods that strengthen and sustain life.
Honey in Scripture
“Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” — Proverbs 16:24
Honey is both nourishment and medicine—naturally antimicrobial, antioxidant-rich, and soothing to the throat and digestive tract. Raw honey supports the immune system and can aid in wound healing. Look for raw unfiltered honey, especially varieties like Manuka honey for extra benefits.
Milk in Scripture
"And there will be enough goats' milk for your food, for the food of your household, and sustenance for your attendants.” — Proverbs 27:27
Raw milk, when safely sourced, contains living enzymes, beneficial bacteria, and bioavailable calcium that support bone strength, digestion, and immunity. It provides essential fats and fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, and K2) that help the body absorb minerals and maintain hormone balance. If you have trouble digesting milk, consider A2/A2 milk—naturally found in human milk, as well as goat, sheep, and water buffalo dairy, and in cows with the A2/A2 protein. This form is often gentler on the digestive system and closer to the milk our Creator designed for nourishment.
Bread and Grain in Scripture
“He fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Yah does man live.” — Deuteronomy 8:3
Whole grains such as wheat, barley, and spelt offer fiber, B vitamins, and trace minerals that sustain energy and support digestion. When leavened naturally (as with sourdough), bread becomes more digestible and nourishing. Ancient and sprouted grains are typically more nutrient-dense and easier to digest—try baking your own sourdough to enjoy bread in its simplest, most wholesome form.
Fish in Scripture
“These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas and in the rivers, them you may eat.” — Leviticus 11:9
Yah’s design for clean fish is both simple and wise — those with fins and scales tend to live in cleaner waters and feed naturally, resulting in healthier meat. Such fish, including salmon, trout, and sardines, are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart, brain, and joint health.
Meat in Scripture
“Whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud—these you may eat.” — Leviticus 11:3
Meat, when eaten in moderation and from clean animals (Leviticus 11), provides complete protein, iron, zinc, and B vitamins essential for energy, tissue repair, and immune strength. Pasture-raised meats are higher in omega-3s and antioxidants.
Salt in Scripture
“You shall season all your grain offerings with salt; you shall not let the salt of the covenant of your Elohim be lacking.” — Leviticus 2:13
Salt preserves life and flavor. Natural mineral salts provide electrolytes that regulate hydration, nerve function, and muscle health. Baja Gold salt is especially flavorful due to other naturally occurring mineral in the salt.
Water in Scripture
“But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.” — John 4:14
Pure water is foundational to health—essential for digestion, circulation, and detoxification. Spiritually and physically, water renews life and sustains all creation. Hydration reflects our dependence on Yah’s continual provision.
Wine in Scripture
“He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate—bringing forth food from the earth, and wine that gladdens the heart of man.” — Psalm 104:14–15
Moderate wine intake—especially red wine—contains polyphenols like resveratrol, which support cardiovascular health. Use wisely and in moderation.
The foods our Creator made are more than calories. They support every part of our well-being. What is one action you can commit to this week to get more of this nourishment that our Creator has provided for us?
